Two arrested on suspicion of murder after man’s remains on footpath

A man and a woman are in police custody on suspicion of murder after human remains were discovered off a footpath in a seaside town.

Police launched a murder investigation after a horrified walker discovered “partial human remains” off a cliff path in Overcliff Drive in Boscombe, Dorset, at around 1.30pm on Saturday. Officers have now identified the deceased as a 49-year-old man from Bournemouth.

Detectives from the Dorset Police Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) have contacted the man’s family. They have also arrested a 38-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man – both also from Bournemouth – on suspicion of murder.

A number of cordons remain in place across Boscombe while the investigation continues. However, an initial crime scene that covered the Manor Steps Zig Zag has since been removed.
